Eddie (Big Ed) Hall was a great husband, father, brother and son, and a warm friend to all who knew him. Despite a lifelong commitment to a healthy lifestyle, Eddie was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2007. Athletic and determined, Big Ed never gave up his fight with cancer, but sadly, the disease eventually won, and he passed away on September 15, 2008.

Big Ed truly understood the gift of life and just how precious it is. While in treatment, Eddie made a pledge to spend more time doing what he could to help those who were less fortunate than himself. Having been through a number of difficult treatments, Big Ed fully understood the many challenges of maintaining a “normal” life while being treated for this terrible disease.

Even though cancer robbed Big Ed of his chance to fulfill his promise, his pledge to help make a difference in the lives of other cancer patients and their family members lives on in the form of BigEd.org – a 501(c )(3) charitable organization created in Big Ed’s honor in 2008 to keep his promise and vision moving forward.

Our Mission

BigEd.org’s mission is to alleviate a small portion of the financial stress and anxiety cancer patients and their families  experience by providing them with assistance with their daily living expenses such as utilities, groceries and parking fees and other expenses incurred during the frequent trips to the hospital. Working with healthcare and social workers to help identify those in need, BigEd.org can make big differences in the lives of cancer patients and their family members.

Please consider helping us keep Eddie’s promise to these families and make a donation to BigEd.org.
