BigEd.org 5K – Nov. 17
This year the annual BigEd.org 5K race/walk will be held on Saturday November 17th. The location will remain on Deer Island. Registration form below.

Start: 11:00 A.M.
Check-In: 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M.
Entry Fee: $25.00 – Includes t-shirt and entry into raffle for a Garmin Heart Rate Monitor, Hydration Belt, gifts cards, Winthrop area certificates, and more…
Raffles called at 12:15 – Your race # is your raffle ticket so you must be present to win.

Directions to Deer Island: Please See Attached (190 Tafts Ave, Winthrop)
Parking will be parallel on the access road into the facility, clearly marked with orange cones.
Course Description: 3 miles of paved walkways, with dramatic views of the Boston skyline, Harbor Islands, and a pair of wind turbines at the state of the art waste water treatment plant operated by MWRA. Arrive early and take advantage of the spectacular sites and historic information
All Proceeds to benefit BigEd.org’s mission to help alleviate a small portion of the financial stress and anxiety of cancer patients and their families, by providing them with assistance with their daily living expenses while being treated for this terrible disease. BigEd.org was founded in memory and honor of Eddie (Big Ed) Hall a Winthrop resident, who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 34.

2011 5K Run-Walk

The third annual BigEd.org 5K Mile Run-Walk held on November 5th, 2011 at Deer Island in Winthrop, MA, was another success with over a hundred participants. Thank you to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and organizers. This was a wonderful event.
Harbor Booze Cruise

This fundraising event took place aboard the Majesty Vessel, starting at the Aquarium Docks and cruising throughout Boston harbor. There was a live band, lots of dancing, cash bar and many raffle prizes.
Bike Across Maine
6/10/11
Bill Hall, Dave Henderson, Dave Pickering, Tanya Pickering, John Dondero, and Allen Hepler will be bicycling approximately 285 miles across Maine to raise awareness and funds for BigEd.org.
The trip will be over three days and start in Gilead, Maine at the NH boarder and end three days later in Lubec, Maine at the Canadian border. Dave Pickering’s father will provide the support vehicle for the trip.

Our first annual Booze cruise fundraising event!
We cruised the Boston harbor listening to the sounds of a steel drum band aboard the Frederick L. Nolan, Jr. Vessel. A great time was had by all. We are all looking forward to next year.

The First Annual BigEd.org 3 Mile Run-Walk held on November 7th, 2009 at Deer Island in Winthrop, MA, was a big success with over a hundred participants. Thank you to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and organizers. This was a wonderful event.

Ellen Hall, Eddie’s sister, climbed Europe’s tallest mountain to raise funds for BigEd.org. A truly amazing feat in Eddie’s honor.

It generated a lot of money, which in turn allowed BigEd.org to help dozens of cancer patients and their families.
